Harrisonburg-based concrete producer Conrock has acquired Salem Ready Mix Concrete.

According to Tim Saul, Conrock's vice president of sales and customer care, Horace Thomas, the owner of Salem Ready Mix, decided to retire from the nearly 45-year-old business.

Conrock operated on Reserve Avenue in Roanoke about a decade ago under the name Roanoke Concrete Supply before being forced to relocate to make way for Carilion developments.

The company is an amalgamation of four other companies that have merged in the past 10 years, Saul said. Conrock employs 65 people in seven locations in Southwest Virginia.

Salem Ready Mix employs about 10 people. Saul said it is undetermined if all of those employees will retain their jobs.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
