Eggbert was the brainchild of the 18-year-old version of Roanoke Times staffer Matt Chittum. A sister band to the more serious Мир, Eggbert were the clowns of Roanoke's punk scene, raffling off turkeys during concerts and singing songs about Ramen noodles. A 1985 Roanoke Times story summed up their repertoire as 60-second pseudo-musical thrashings, including one performed with an exceptional lack of finesse.
But then how many bands can boast bouncing 200 rubber superballs
off the stage into the crowd?
Eggbert plays at Roanoke's Grandin Theater in July 1985.
- Matt Chittum -- guitar
- Mark Turner -- bass
- Nelson Edmunds -- drums
- Lawson Jaegar -- vocals
