Phi Beta Kappa Lecture: "Immigration Rules and Citizenship" with John Agnew

Agnew, distinguished professor of geography and professor of Italian at UCLA, will speak in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Hollins University's Phi Beta Kappa chapter. Agnew lays out a framework for understanding immigration "management" and illustrates it with case studies from Italy, South Korea, Mexico and the United States.

Barnes & Noble Poetry and Spoken Word Night: Featured Speaker Lisa Ress

Bring your original works to read or share a piece from a favorite author. Ress has taught creative writing at Hollins and Cornell universities, Knox College and the University of California-Irvine. She has had more than 100 poems published in a variety of literary magazines and anthologies.

Reading: Poet Mike Smith

Smith, assistant professor of poetry at Delta State University, edits "Tapestry," a literary journal focusing on the Mississippi Delta. His poetry collections include "Byron in Baghdad," "Multiverse," and "How to Make a Mummy." His latest book is a translation of Goethe's "Faust: A Tragedy."
