Suspect in Roanoke assault arrested, charged by police
Police have arrested a man suspected of attacking a woman Friday outside a Northeast Roanoke nightclub and then stabbing two people who tried to help her.
Lorenzo Allen Harris, 22, of Roanoke was charged Tuesday with two counts of malicious wounding and one count of assault and battery, Roanoke police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said.
A woman had told police about 12:30 a.m. Friday that she was standing outside the Fillin' Station, on Williamson Road and Forest Hill Avenue Northeast, when the suspect assaulted her.
A man and a woman told investigating officers that they tried to help the woman, and that in response the suspect stabbed them. Police did not name any of the victims.
The suspect was described as a 25- to 30-year-old black man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, thin, with short dreadlocked hair. He was wearing a light-colored shirt and jeans.
Harris was being held without bond at the Roanoke City Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court June 30, according to online court records.
