Floyd man killed Friday in 1-car crash on Va. 681

Police are investigating a crash that killed a man on Virginia 681 in Floyd County shortly after 5 p.m. Friday.

A car driven by Sean Christian Smith, 30, of Floyd, ran off the right side of the road, struck a tree and overturned, said Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Rob Carpentieri.

Smith was ejected from the 1986 Chevrolet Camaro and was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was not wearing a seat belt, Carpentieri said.

It is unclear if there were any other passengers in the car.

No further details were available late Saturday night.
