Police: Salem woman was texting before crash
A Salem woman is in serious condition after crashing her car Saturday morning.
Roanoke County spokeswoman Teresa Hamilton Hall said in a news release that Tracy Newman, 24, crashed her car in the 7000 block of Bradshaw Road about 9:40a.m.
According to the news release, police found that Newman was texting while driving and lost control of the car. Her car struck "several trees," the release said. The road was blocked to traffic for some time after the crash.
Newman was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
