Roanoke woman arrested in string of Bedford County burglaries

Bedford County authorities have made another arrest in a string of daytime burglaries.

After charging four Roanoke men in January, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office arrested Tanisha “Ping” Linette Nelson, a 20-year-old Roanoke woman, Tuesday morning.

She is charged with five counts of grand larceny and two counts of larceny of a firearm.

The series of daytime burglaries struck five Bedford County homes between Dec. 24 and Jan. 4, according to the sheriff’s office.

The four men also charged in the burglaries drew police suspicion following an incident in which authorities said they shot into a home in the 1400 block of Centerville Road and then led police on a chase.

Augustus “Scooter” Xavier, 18; Durrell Brown, 25; Kenneth “Junior” Beaner, 18; and Juan “Poo” Welton, 20, were arrested following a January search of a northwest Roanoke apartment.

Nelson, also of northwest Roanoke, is being held on $25,000 bond in the Bedford Adult Detention Center.

The sheriff’s office said it is still seeking Nathan Nelms in connection with the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 586-7827 or the Central Virginia Crime Stoppers at 888-798-5900.
