Roanoke is Virginia's largest metropolitan area west of Richmond and the state's third most populated newspaper market. The primary market of The Roanoke Times is comprised of the Roanoke core market (Botetourt County, Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Salem City), the New River Valley core market (Floyd County, Giles County, Montgomery County, Pulaski County and Radford City) and the 13 surrounding counties.
