High School football: Lord Botetourt earns winning season in 2 OTs

LOW MOOR - Chris Thompson rushed for 250 yards on 45 carries and five touchdowns, including the winning score in the second overtime period, to give Lord Botetourt a 38-32 win over Alleghany in a Blue Ridge District football game Friday.

The Cavaliers (6-3, 3-1) clinched their first winning season since 2000.

Austin Oyler added 62 yards and 13 carries for Botetourt.

Nick Farrell threw for 117 yards and two touchdowns to lead Alleghany (3-6, 0-4).

Thompson scored on a 5-yard run, followed by his run for the 2-point conversion, to tie the score at 24 with about five minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Thompson scored on a 1-yard run, followed by Alex Hampton's run for the 2-point conversion, in the first overtime period. But Farrell answered with an 8-yard TD pass to Kendall Kessinger, followed by Zac Carter's run for the 2-point conversion, to force a second overtime.

After Alleghany failed to score in the second overtime period, Thompson scored on a 2-yard run to win the game.

MONETA - Deshawn Martin and Chris Tyree each had TD runs of more than 60 yards, and Adam Daponte kicked two field goals as the Golden Eagles (3-6, 1-2) held off the Terriers for their first Blue Ridge District win.

Tyree ran for 181 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries, while Martin ran for 130 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.

Shaffer Kelly scored on an 88-yard touchdown run for William Byrd (4-5, 2-2), while Simeon Horstmann rushed for 119 yards on 25 carries.

PEARISBURG - Ian Mann rushed for 173 yards and four touchdowns on 13 carries to lead the Spartans (8-1, 4-0 Three Rivers District) over the Mustangs (4-5, 1-3).

Brett Whitlow ran for 127 yards and three TDs on 10 carries for Giles, ranked No. 8 in the Associated Press Group A poll.

James Fields completed 17 of 31 passes for 131 yards and one TD with three interceptions for EastMont. Teammate Kendall Sisson returned a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown and had eight catches for 64 yards.

RADFORD - Dorian Harris carried the ball 17 times for 215 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Buffaloes (6-3, 3-1 Three Rivers District) past the Bobcats (3-6, 2-2).

Matt Bary completed four of six passes for 127 yards and rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns for Floyd County.

Bary also returned an interception for a touchdown.

Isaiah Carter led Radford with 125 yards on 15 carries.

Shaquille Bonds had four catches for 100 yards and one score for the Highlanders, who punted just one time. Cole, who rushed for 57 yards, had one TD catch and two scoring runs.

Jeremy Martin caught a TD pass and also returned a kickoff 89 yards for another score.

Justin Craft ran for 124 yards and two TDs for the Eagles, who lost their 38th straight game. Gabe Spencer rushed for 98 yards.

Jamison rushed for 113 yards on 22 carries and completed seven of 11 passes for 73 yards with one interception.

Keon Mabin ran for 88 yards on 15 carries for Magna Vista. Brent Hawkins had two TD catches.

Brandon Carter completed five of 11 passes for 97 yards and one TD with three interceptions for Martinsville. Larry Perkins ran for 71 yards on 22 carries.

Parrish completed eight of 17 passes for 166 yards and ran for 85 yards on 10 carries for Heritage, ranked No. 7 in the Associated Press Group AA poll.

Tyler Fowler rushed for 228 yards and one TD on 41 carries for the Cavaliers.

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. - Daniel Hamm rushed for 147 yards and scored two touchdowns, including the game-winner with 17 seconds to play, as Fort Chiswell (8-1, 4-0) clinched at least a tie for the Mountain Empire District by edging host Graham (6-3, 2-2).

Quarterback Brett Mabry also scored twice on TD runs for the Pioneers, who last won the district title outright in 2009. That will be the case again if they win next week at Bland County.

Graham trailed 13-0 at the half, but battled back with the help of two Cody Hatfield TD runs - one of those an 80-yard dash - and a 61-yard scoring run by Spencer Sheets.

Rodgers missed the game with a sprained ankle.

Michael Rodgers had two TD catches for Grayson County. James Williams ran for two touchdowns.

Rodney Perdue completed six of 14 passes for 95 yards and two TDs with two interceptions for Narrows. Chandler Burton had both TD catches. Trevor Hart ran for 81 yards and one TD on 13 carries.

Austin Porter ran for two fourth-quarter touchdowns for Liberty.

Porter's 1-yard run, followed by Dominique Taylor's pass to Jamaal Preston for the 2-point conversion, gave Liberty a 34-30 lead with 2:44 to go.

Devin Carper also ran for two TDs for Liberty. Teammate Trevon Lightfoot returned a fumble 26 yards for a TD.
